In Hope

Reproducing an old poem of mine which was published in JetSet magazine many years ago…

Into this world was born
A girl wrapped in hope
Grew up in pretty frocks
Wishes in every frill
Counted colours in the rainbow
With butterflies to chase
Fairies and wishing wells
In her dream so beautiful
Played with friends
Dolls and toys on rainy days
Grew tall with ambitions
Watched the skylark fly high
Into the deep blue sky
Oblivious of the world beneath
Sans fairies, san dolls
Once in a beautiful sphere
Now smeared with lies and fears
Those eyes now in tears
Her dreams, her vision blur
In a mess, her face now
Waiting for one gentle touch
Just another hope
Till fate takes her yonder
That deep blue sky
